FAQ
Hello! I’m here to assist with any possible questions you might have when it comes to how things work around here!
are your products made to order or ready to ship?
Most of the items we make are Made to Order. A lot of the fabric we use is secondhand sourced, giving us to have a limited amount it to use for our products. To conserve and not overuse it we measure what is available and determine how many items can be made from it. Once ordered the assembly process starts! If we have any leftover we may list it again (if the item sold out) or use it for a future product. Some items take longer than others and depending on order volume at the time it can take anywhere around 4-6 weeks for a batch of items to be completed. A lot of our notions are secondhand sourced as well, especially trim. Sometimes the item featured as the sample will be out of a specific notion or trim, but we always make sure to have a substitute on hand that will be a close match. This both gives a unique feeling to each piece and allows us to use as many second-hand sourced materials as we can.
Do you ship internationally?
yes! We are slowly l expanding where we can ship items off to. We will be trying to add more this year and get dirty pillows to lots of different places.
commissions, how do they work?!
Since there is an ever-expanding catalog of items made here at Dirty Pillows, the window for certain types of commissions open up at different times. Some projects take longer than others and depending on regular production or collection preparation at any given time-that depends on what type of commissions I can take on. If there is a time sensitive event (birthday, wedding, special occasion, ect) and you have an idea in mind during closed commissions or that type of item isn’t listed as a type of product being offered in commissions at time (example, you want a special commissioned hairbow for a special event, but only wall pillows are advertised as commissions at the time) please feel free to still use the commission form and I will reply if I have the time available.
Is everything at Dirty Pillows second hand sourced?!
Short answer-no. I do try to source as many of my materials as possible! A big part of my creative process is finding interesting materials and fabrics, seeing what they remind me of and going from there. Some shop staples (example: horn bows) are very popular and although they may have been originally created with secondhand sourced fabrics, they eventually get switched over to fabrics that can be purchased in bulk to have them in the shop as often as possible. As we grow, I'm happy to say that most of the re-ordered shop items are being switched to small shops instead of big box stores. Yay!! the goal is for Dirty Pillows to pay our small staff an appropriate wage, secondhand source most of our materials, and shop small for all re-occurring supplies!
Do you sell your items in any stores?
Yes! We sell at:
Nocturne in Salem, MA
Domestic Witch in Pittsburgh, PA
and coming soon to Wonder Witch Co in Pittsburgh PA
If you run a small shop that features independent artists and would like to feature Dirty Pillows please feel free to contact us for quotes!
