2/26 update!

Hi, hello! Oh man, where has the month GONE?! Anyone else feeling the absolute drain that this winter has casted over everything? if you answered no, PLEASE tell me your secret! We have been feeling it like crazy, and it feels unending! Luckily, we have been so busy here in the studio so everyday also goes by doing what we love! and that's just pretty cool! 

little updates for y'all! The last of the January orders are being finished up this week and going out the door! (minus any heart bag orders) the heart bag orders are in process! each bag takes many steps, and we've been cutting everything out, embroidering the fronts of the bags, making the straps, doing things in little batches so when the time comes to assemble everything it's simple and quick! well, as quick as assembling 30 bags can be. we're still on track for them to be out by mid-march, but if anything comes up where it looks like we'll go past that deadline we'll be reaching out to everyone to let them know ASAP. 

I'm so happy that everyone was so interested in the Frankenstein collection! I won't lie, last fall when I saw so many creators putting Frankenstein stuff out, I felt like maybe I was missing the window of interest? We had just launched the Dracula bags, and it was the largest order we had ever taken as a team due to interest! I'm glad I waited, because just like the Dracula bags, they needed time to be refined. I had a few Frankenstein ideas floating around, but nothing screaming out at me at the time. So, finding those green curtains really opened up so many ideas and BAM! The first wall hearts were formed for that collection. Then following that beautiful colorway, it opened up so many more ideas from fabric I had in my studio. That's the fun part about collecting and saving different unique things, you never really know what they'll form into one day. I'm happy to say we have a ton of the curtains left to make more Frankenstein wall pillows, so once I get more trim that I can open up pre-orders to much larger volume we'll add them to the make to order option and bring them to shows. 

I'm also really happy that the whimsigoth collection was a hit! those were also really fun to make! I realized I didn't go as dark as moody with the color pallets as my intended whimsigoth mood boards called for, it felt more like 90's core by the end of them. The 90's colors I remember seeing around all the time as a kid and I think that's pretty fun on its own! Also-it just means I'll have to bring it back in the fall for the darker toned second whimsigoth collection! 

Now onto some studio / BTS stuff from Dirty Pillows HQ! Next month we're only going to have 1 update. Last fall we started a pretty large studio makeover and have had to have it on pause / start and stop it off and on since. We're going to take a proper week or so to get a lot of things in order between current open orders, so we're set up for a great year ahead of us! We're also going to start to prep a bunch of stuff for the Oddities Convention circuit we'll working over this summer. As a team who handmakes almost everything! We want to be prepared to be able to continue taking orders alongside of working the conventions this summer. Have lots of stock for both without making ourselves go totally crazy! Okay, maybe a little crazy. I operate better on a little crazy. 

Also in March I will be taking Dirty Pillows to Patreon! As I've started to get a better flow with steady orders, working with a team, and trying new products I find myself wanting to share more ALL THE TIME! But I won't lie, I HATE social media. I just hate it! It's so discouraging, doomscrolling until you're depressed, and scary to see so much AI all over the place. Now we can't totally lose it, and I won't be abandoning it all together because we can't grow without it. I will just be shutting down my TikTok and focusing on only Instagram and Patreon. I plan on having a free tier to be able to see posts and things that are going on, one small fee tier and one larger fee tier. Finishing all the details this week about that and then I'll be putting stuff up there! I can't wait. I really do want to talk more, blog more, and share more, but I don't want it to get lost to the algorithm or just lining the pockets further for the terrible people in charge of these platforms.
