11/17 Update
Hi, hello!! Here's some updates from HQ!
There is a small handful of orders from early October that are being finished this week, they were waiting on some supplies that were held up in transit to be finished. They're first to be taken care of this week and then getting them out ASAP!!
Other than that, as of right now we're in line for most orders to be finished right around or slightly earlier than their 4 week turn around! We have been trying to make things in small batches as much as possible so we can both complete orders and have some extras for the storefronts we sell through, inventory and future shows. With a very small team of just two people and business steadily growing it is something I've been both struggling to figure out and also proud to have found some balance within!
I'm so happy that the dracula bags were a big hit! i've been wanting to make that pillow into a bag for the longest time, but I really wanted to hammer out the details on my heart pillow bag pattern first. It's my first bag pattern and also my most complicated bag to make. I initially made the pattern only 3 months into having my business, so now that I've gotten almost another full year of experience my pattern has been updated in a much more easy way for us to produce many more bags at a time. The blood red bags were fast to go, but I'm sourcing more deep red velvet fabric. Embroidery on velvet is not the easiest thing and it's hard to find one that our machines love! Considering that a lot of our fabrics are secondhand sourced it's also a process to find a fabric that is one we can reorder! I'm hoping to have more in the near future and once we've worked down orders we'll bring it back.
To ensure that orders are being completed before we hit the 4-8 week turn around mark, no more make to order items will be listed for the year. Well, no more new ones! I'm trying to make more time to bring one of a kind ready to ship totes, banners, and wall pillows to the site more often. Other than Krampus/Holiday items the rest of the one of a kind stuff might be a little all over the place and random at times, but that's the charm of trying lots of stuff out. You never know who is going to be into it and just what will resonate with who!
The end of the year I'll put putting out a bunch of new one of a kind products too. Photo albums, journals, trinket charms! lots of different types of stuff. I've gotten my upstairs craft area updated and ready to create! Working out of your home can easily become an uphill battle of staying on top of both work chores and home chores. I let the home chores go to the side and had to stop a lot of my little craft projects to catch back up. Excited to get back into that stuff, and perfect for holiday season so people don't have to wait for items to be made!!
Last, we are in the process of expanding our studio space! I'm very blessed to have a basement that allows me to work from my home, but the small room we started in has quickly grown to almost 3 rooms. 3 rooms with little to no direction of how to go about using the space has been hard to keep up with. So we're remodeling a room specifically for fabric/notions/packing supplies while we have the other room for production and finished inventory. Trying to get this done while also working full time has been a struggle, but I know it's going to make our business only thrive! Allowing more orders to be taken and possibly more people working with us one day too. My biggest dream for this is always going to be to have a wonderful creative team that I can properly pay for their time and bringing my art alive with. Also! hopefully this will lead to doing a studio tour one day! maybe!
Thanks so much again for the love, support and orders
